MSU LAW LECTURE

MARCH 2018

I was privileged to be among a panel of distinguished speakers at Michigan State School of Law, regarding the current and future state of international sports law. From German economists, to ESPN enterprise reporters, to FanDuel's GC, to NFL and NHL VPs, it was a packed and powerful line-up.

On a personal note, there was a sense of fulfillment, knowing that was speaking just 90min from where my Dad grew up and my grandfather worked on the GM assembly line.  //DE

AMAZING OLYMPICS

FEBRUARY 2018

After our clients were done competing, I packed up and headed out of Korea before the Games wrapped, so I could get a jump-start on the post-Olympic media and marketing push. I'm grateful for the opportunity to represent such amazing clients, to work with the wonderful staff at Team USA, to coordinate with my friends across the media landscape, and to collaborate with my colleagues in the commercial brand sphere.

Pyeongchang was my fourth consecutive Olympic Games and my third time seeing a client bring home a medal for the USA. God is Good!  //DE

BRONZE MEDALS

FEBRUARY 2018

Chris and Alexa Knierim anchored an amazing performance by Team USA in the Figure Skating Team Event, at the Winter Games. AKCK pulled the U.S. from fourth to second place after their short program and solidified America's position after their free skate. The result? A bronze medal for the United States of America!

What an amazing year for the Knierim's! USA! USA! USA!  //DE

OLYMPIC CLIENTS

FEBRUARY 2018

I was so proud to see our three Team USA athletes prepping for the Opening Ceremony at the 2018 Winter Olympics! Tucker West (luge) and Chris & Alexa Knierim (figure skating) will make their second and first Olympic appearance, respectively. Different sports, different stories, same depth of character. Elite talent is rare. Strength of character is even more scarce! Here's to an amazing 17 days in Korea!  //DE

CHAMPS AGAIN

JANUARY 2018

The first week of 2018, I flew out to San Jose and watched Chris & Alexa Knierim re-claim their U.S. Pairs National Championship title. In so doing, they punched their ticket to their first Olympic Games, which will take place next month, in PyeongChang, South Korea.

With all that the pair have been through on--and even more importantly, off--the ice, this is an exciting and well-deserved chapter in the story of their lives.  //DE

LAST DAY OF 2017

DECEMBER 2017

On the last day of the year, I took a 4am train to NYC to watch Jon Halapio start the final game of the 2017 regular season, at MetLife Stadium. Jon had started the Giants' last six games and was really heading into the off-season on a high note, despite the subpar season for the team. It was 13F with windchill and I lost feeling in my toes standing on the sidelines during pre-game warm-ups.

I left at half-time and hustled back to Penn Station, the Acela to DC, and then back just in time to tuck our son in and count down the timer until midnight with my wife.

This was one heck of a year. //DE

1ST CHRISTMAS

DECEMBER 2017

Getting to see our son's face on Christmas morning was pretty priceless. Hilary ordered some handmade outfits (complete with knee socks and white leather hi-tops) all of which were home runs with the three grandparents, who came over on Christmas morning.

I make it a point to remain--and actively focus on being--thankful each day. The period at the end of each year, when business invariably slows down, draws that sentiment into the light more than ever. God has blessed me on so many fronts. I am thankful for my family, grateful for my health, and committed to being better in 2018, than I was in 2017. //DE

THE FAM ON EWTN

DECEMBER 2017

What a symbolically perfect way to close out 2017 on the media front--having my wife and our young son with me on-set for a sports biz segment with my friends at EWTN News Nightly.

Over the years, hosts and producers met my fiancé, then my wife, then my pregnant wife, and now they ask about our son, as soon as I walk in the door. I'm so proud of Hilary and Alexander. I'm happy to be the '3rd place' in my family when it comes to attention and credit.  //DE
